Texas School of Professional Photography

Texas School

Texas School is so much more than just a class. Join close to 1,000 photographers for an intensive week of learning and fun. There's a trade show, parties, lots of free meals and free beer. Find out why photographers travel from all over the world to attend this awesome event.

Between Light & Shadow

Combined, Tony & Rob have about 45 years of experience with Texas School. Tony has been teaching for 24 years and this year Rob and Tony are co-teaching at Texas School for the first time. The class is Between Light & Shadow and is intended for the more advanced photographer.

Understanding and controlling light quality is at the core of all of Tony’s presentations and workshops. Attendees will learn how to see a unique perspective and not be afraid to push the limits of their experience and talents and move well beyond what they have done over and over.

Corbell and Hull will discuss all types of lighting and its tools in-studio and on-location. Lighting applications include additive, subtractive, reflective and transmission.  Each combination of tool and application will be shown and discussed in detail. Tony will discuss the importance of control in the digital capture and how a few seconds of extra time spent at the time of capture can save hours in post-production.  Tony always spends time discussing Light Quality as well as Light Quantity and how Light Direction plays a significant role in the resulting mood of an image.

  • how to NEVER miss an exposure again
  • how to THINK like a photographer
  • about the correct Lighting Tools to Accurately fit the task at hand

Note: This class sells out just about every year. It is offered through the Texas Professional Photographers Association and you'll need to register on their website.
