The Details

The Details spell out the relationship between you and the Corbell Photographic Workshops, subsequently known as CPW.

What’s included in my tuition?

Unless otherwise noted, the tuition covers all classroom and field education.

Travel, hotel, and personal expenses are paid by each student.

Room reservations

I recommend that you make your lodging reservations as soon as you register for the workshop. Because we work only with small groups, some hotels will not block rooms for our use. Also, most hotels will release rooms that are blocked anywhere from 30 to 90 days before an event.

Unless otherwise noted, you must make your own lodging accommodations. CPW designates a host hotel for your convenience and this hotel may offer special rates for our guests. When you contact the hotel you should advise them that you are with the CPW Workshop.

Workshop participants are not required to stay at the host hotel. In either case, you should advise your workshop leader where you will be staying so that any last minute information can be passed on to you as quickly as possible.

Payment options

CPW accepts Visa, MasterCard, personal checks and, of course, cash. All prices are quoted in US dollars.

Deposit

Unless otherwise stated, most workshops can be reserved for a $100 deposit. The balance is due 90 days prior to the event.

For “Odyssey” events (for example, most International workshops) deposit and payment terms are specified for each event.

For most classes, full payment is due when you register for the event.

Refund policy

Tuition refunds are available, less $100 deposit amount, if requested 90 days prior to the start date of the workshop. For cancellations less than 90 days before an event, you will be liable for the full tuition unless we can fill your spot.

Deposits ($100) are fully refundable for 7 days, after which time they become non-refundable.

Cancellation

From time to time there may be situations that require us to cancel a workshop. Although this is unlikely you should be aware that such an event is possible whether because of illness, under-enrollment, government imposed travel restrictions etc.

In the event that a workshop is cancelled by CPW, 100% of your tuition will be refunded. TCPW is not liable for any other costs associated with the cancellation of a program including, but not limited to, nonrefundable airfare, hotel deposits, etc.

Insurance

All participants are strongly urged to purchase trip cancellation and interruption insurance, especially students who elect to purchase non-refundable tickets.

Safety

Workshop locations selected by CPW are extremely safe though you should exercise prudence in your activities. Don’t leave valuables unattended and when traveling at night you should travel with a companion.

Activities planned for all CPW workshops are well within the capabilities of an average person in good health. No workshop activities are planned for any hazardous areas though you should be aware that many of the photo locations are unimproved. You should be prepared to hike on uneven, muddy, slick, steep, and rocky trails all while carrying an assortment of camera equipment.

Also be aware that you may be in a natural area and the animals that you see are wild. Please help keep them that way.

All wildlife, especially bison, elk and bears, are unpredictable and dangerous. Keep a safe distance from all wildlife and Do NOT feed any wildlife. Each year, a number of visitors to the parks are injured by wild animals -- do not approach any elk closer than fifty meters, and watch closely for any aggressive signs displayed by the animal (raised ears, glaring looks, stamping feet, etc.). It is not unusual to see elk and other wild animals roaming the streets of some of the towns. They may look tame but they are wild animals.

Workshop participants should prepare for a wide range of weather conditions. Rainwear is recommended and the chilly mornings dictate multi-layered clothing, hats, mittens and warm foot wear. Inclement weather actually adds a wonderful mood to photographs so the field schedule will only be altered if the weather turns dangerous.

Release of Liability

This agreement is between the person identified in the registration as the guest (the “Guest”) and CPW, Tony Corbell and Rob Hull (collectively, the “Host”).  The purposes of this agreement are to (1) release from liability and hold harmless the Host and their agents, heirs, successors and assigns, and (2) acknowledge and accept the dangers, risks and hazards associated with the photography workshop and related travel hereinafter described (the “CPW Workshop”).

The Guest will be responsible for the Guest’s transportation to the Workshop Location and transportation during the CPW Workshop at the Workshop Location.

Guest acknowledges and understands that no warranty, either expressed or implied, is made by the Host as to the condition of the Workshop Location or any roads, buildings, gates, or other improvements located thereon. This document is sufficient warning that dangerous conditions, risks and hazards, both natural and man-made, may exist at the Workshop Location. Guest’s presence and activities at the CPW Workshop and the Workshop Location may expose both Guest and Guest’s property to dangerous conditions, risks and hazards, including but not limited to: poisonous snakes, insects and spiders; deer stands and blinds; rocks, erosion and general condition of the land, both on and off roadways and trails, creating rough, hazardous and dangerous driving, riding and walking conditions; animals both wild and domestic that may be diseased and/or potentially dangerous; rapidly rising and rushing water in creeks and arroyos; and other conditions that cannot be foreseen.

The Guest acknowledges by his/her registration that all forms of outdoor recreation can be inherently dangerous and agrees that Host, and its owners and/or agents, will not be held responsible for any accidents or injuries which may occur during the CPW Workshop and the period when the Guest is at the Workshop Location. Guest hereby expressly assumes all such dangers, risks and hazards. Guest agrees and understands that Host assumes no liability for the safety of the person or property of Guest or Guest’s servants, guests, agents or employees. Guest releases Host from any liability for damages or injury to the person and/or property of Guest or Guest’s servants, guests, agents, or employees occurring during the CPW Workshop or on or about the Workshop Location. The term "injury" as used herein also covers death. In addition to other matters covered hereby, the release and indemnification provisions of this paragraph also cover all claims for wrongful death under the Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code.

The Host shall not be liable to the Guest or the Guest’s agents, employees, guests, invitees or any person claiming by, through or under the Guest for any injury to person, loss of or damage to property, occasioned by or through the acts or omissions of the Host, or by any cause whatsoever whether or not caused by the Host's negligence or gross negligence.

The Host shall not be liable for, and the Guest shall indemnify the Host and save it harmless from, all suits, actions, damages, liability and expense in connection with loss of life, bodily or personal injury or property damage arising from or out of any occurrence during the CPW Workshop or in, upon, at or from the Workshop Location, or occasioned wholly or in part by any action or omission of the Guest, its agents, contractors, employees, invitees, or licensees. If the Host shall, without fault on its part, be made a party to any action commenced by or against the Guest, the Guest shall protect and hold the Host harmless therefrom and shall pay all costs, expenses, and reasonable attorney's fees to the Host incurred in connection therewith.

The provisions, covenants, conditions and indemnities contained in this Release shall survive the period of and continue after the CPW Workshop.

In accepting this Agreement, Guest represents and warrants that (a) Guest has knowingly and willingly entered this agreement and become bound by its terms and conditions; (b) Guest has had ample opportunity to read this Agreement and has done so; (c) Guest understands and voluntarily agrees to each term of the Agreement; (d) no representations or statements have been made to Guest about the safety of the Guest’s experience at the CPW Workshop or the Workshop Location; (e) Guest has not been induced to sign this Agreement by the statement or conduct of any person; (f) Guest is under no duress or requirement to sign this Agreement; and (g) Guest has the mental competency to understand and enter into this Agreement.

The terms and conditions of this agreement, including its release and indemnification provisions, are binding upon the Guest, and the heirs and assigns of the Guest, and inure to the benefit of the successors and assigns of the Host.
